Filling in the form below will add you to our mailing list, however, that does not mean you are a member of our club. If you would like to join, please visit our website, fill out the application available here, and mail it in with payment or stop by one of our monthly meetings.
Thank you for your interest in the Meade Rod and Gun Club!
We meet the first Thursday of the month at 7:00PM at Perry's Restaurant in Odenton. This is just up from the Odenton Shopping Center on the North side on 175. The address is:
Perry's Restaurant and Odie's Pub
1210 Annapolis Road
Odenton, Maryland 21113
We will be meeting in the banquet hall in back of the building at our normal time, 1900 hours, but if you want to come early you can join us for dinner at 1800 hours. We would be glad to have you and your family join us.
We have many activities during the year, a fishing rodeo for the kids, an old soldiers dinner, turkey shoots, a crab feast, a CMP M1 Clinic and Match, a club Hunters Education Instructor group, and range privileges usually once a month except during hunting season. The range is for club members as a group. No individuals are allowed, so we cannot "walk on" the range. As one of few civilian clubs that have access to the range, the Military, NSA, and local Police have priority.
Some range information. Rifle range 1 goes out to 600 yards, Rifle range 9 to 300 yards but are difficult to get. Ranges 2-8 are pistol ranges but unfortunately most are frangible only (no lead), so ammo can be expensive. We shoot more at these ranges. We do get a lead range occasionally. Our range schedule is posted on our site as are the directions to the Piney Orchard gate as we cannot enter the ranges from Fort Meade. We apply for these dates a year in advance. One note, these ranges used to be on base 16 years ago. The Army donated around 8k acres to DOI, so all ranges are now part of the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. With arrangements with NSA, the ranges are controlled by the NSA police force. Once a member contacts us that they will attend the designated range day and time, we meet at the Piney Orchard gate, entering and leaving as a group. We cannot enter the range from the Post. Since we have limited range time, we have a reciprocal agreement with the Meade Rifle and Pistol club, so we can share resources and range time. As an affiliate of the Associated Gun Club of Baltimore at Marriottsville, you can get a range badge for $150.00 in January (or $75 after July 1 if a new member), but is not mandatory. This gives some of our club members an alternative to the limited range access that we offer. The Marriottsville range is open 363 days of the year.
If you are interested in hunting, visit the Meade Natural Heritage Association's web site at http://mnha.net/. They are a civilian volunteer group that manages the hunting control station at the Refuge. There is an archery range just opposite from the pet center from the Outdoor Adventure Center. It is maintained by MWR and is accessed from the main gate since it is on post. You should not have an issue bringing a bow on post. Our club has an activity committee so if you have any questions we would be glad to assist.
You can mail our application located on our site or bring it with you to the next meeting. If you are an NRA member we can renew your membership on line when needed and save you $10.00. See our sign up page on our web site.
